With the Bonnie Blue flying high above it all, with the memorial walk to the monument bedecked with the (modern) US flag and with a variety of Confederate battle flags about the area, the ceremony began at the appointed 2:00 pm hour.
Camp 635 Chaplain Randy Rogers led the group in prayer to begin the ceremony.
Camp 635 Commander Bert Green welcomed all the attendees and recognized a number of notable individuals in the audience.
A rousing version of 'Dixie' was offered up to assure everyone was in a southern frame of mind.
Jerry Brooks, two of the Camp's "Dixie Hummingbirds" provided music appropriate to the occasion.
Commander Green and W.D Holder Chapter UDC President Betty Arnold placed the wreathe at the Confederate monument.
Commander Green introduced the guest speaker for the day, Robert Murphree.
Compatriot Murphree gave a brief but rousing and to-the-point address on how we must continue to remember and memorialize our Confederate ancestors.
A three-shot musket salute was given in honor of the Confederates interred here.
'Taps' was played in honor of the fallen and the program was closed.
